About Interim

INTERIM HEADTEACHERS, DEPUTY HEADTEACHERS, HEADS OF DEPARTMENT, PROJECT MANAGERS, ADVISORS, SENIOR MANAGEMENT SUPPORT

If a school or local authority unexpectedly loses senior members of staff and needs dependable, committed and experienced cover, we provide staff who have been carefully selected, interviewed and with an enhanced CRB, to run a school, department or project.

Our interim managers are backed by a highly experienced support team who have first hand knowledge of the situations they are likely to encounter, and can offer on the spot advice, or support the manager in school.

Why is an interim manager the answer to your problem?

  • They are focused on the agreed brief
  • They are results-orientated and have the expertise to do the job
  • They start in days, bring a fresh approach, and are neutral and objective
  • They bring skill, contacts and experience to the team
  • There is a minimum of recruitment or termination formalities
  • They drive through change in a cost effective way
  • They take hard decisions and bring energy, confidence and maturity to the team
  • There are no employer liabilities

With a good interim manager, you can plan today and have the right person delivering it quickly, often in days. That person is a short-term appointment – committed to getting the job done, but not a long-term overhead. They are not involved in the politics of the establishment, they are there to make things happen.

If you have already experienced the benefits of interim management, you will need little persuading when the time next comes to engage high-quality but short-term professional support.

“The leadership of the interim headteacher is strong. She has provided clear guidance for all staff and pupils. She is rigorous in her monitoring of school policies and has high standards of teaching and learning.”
– HMI monitoring report.

The case

Reporting a drop of nearly 65% in exclusions and an increase of 11% in teaching judged by the inspection team to be ‘very good’, a Welsh high school has been removed from special measures by our interim team whose leadership resulted in ‘a remarkable turnaround in pupil achievement and higher attendance’.
