Behaviour in Schools- The Current Situation and Ways Forward
Sir Alan will describe the principles that guided him in his work as government adviser on behaviour and discipline in schools 2005-10. He will comment on current government policy and share his beliefs that:
- good behaviour is learnt and must be taught
- the quality of learning, teaching and behaviour are inseparable issues
- instances of poor behaviour can be greatly reduced by early intervention
- schools need to be consistent in their teaching and behaviour practices
- schools operating in partnership can best meet the needs of children

Sue believes that by working with parents, looking after the whole child and communicating a consistent message, teachers and parents can work together to promote positive behaviour and deal with the root causes of negative behaviour. This session will cover:
