Pipeline 4: English and maths GCSE and Functional Skills training for FE practitioners

 

Creative Education is working on behalf of The Education and Training Foundation delivering a range of English and maths Pipeline courses for practitioners responsible for improving the outcomes of learners taking GCSE or Functional Skills courses in further education.

 

Pipeline 4 courses

English Enhancement Programme | (3 days)

AoC research shows that 60% of college providers are struggling to recruit suitably qualified GCSE English teachers. The EEP programme is designed specifically to help staff who have good subject knowledge but haven’t taught GCSE English language recently. In the last 3 years this programme has trained over 2,000 teachers; now it’s back and updated with the very latest GCSE information, including key guidance on assessment and how to secure the all-important grade 5.

The MEP programme is designed specifically for teachers to boost their subject knowledge for teaching Level 2 and develop key strategies. The programme has been updated with the very latest GCSE information, including key guidance on assessment and how to secure the all-important grade 5.

Developing effective maths and English teaching through lesson observations and learning walks | (1 day)

This practical one day course will give you a key insight into how observations can be used developmentally by managers and colleagues to improve the teaching of maths and English – both when delivered in standalone lessons and when embedded into vocational learning.

Maximising progress at entry level English and maths | (1 day)

Entry Level courses are essential to motivate and provide for students who would struggle at GCSE level; or to be used as a stepping stone towards a Level 1 or 2 qualification. The practical ideas suggested in this course will be suitable for all exam boards and delegates will gain new and creative ideas on choosing options and developing an innovative curriculum to motivate pupils in developing literacy skills further.

With technical education in the news following the Sainsbury Review, maths is once again in the spotlight. Many providers are starting or expanding their core maths provision to meet the demand for learners looking for practical Level 3 mathematics learning to support their qualification. This intensive three day course will make you completely prepared for delivering the core maths qualification.
