This course provides the non-specialist teacher with the basics to deliver National Curriculum history well. The emphasis is on improving students' understanding of the past through the application of key concepts and processes, while at the same time using learning styles and thinking skills to engage and motivate them. This approach is practical, providing delegates with materials to take back into the classroom.

  • Content versus concepts and processes
  • Using the 'key concepts' of history
  • Taking a problem-solving approach - enquiry, evidence and communication
  • Using learning styles and thinking skills
  • Locating and using appropriate resources
Was given lots of practical advise and information which can be directly translated into quality lesson delivery. Was very clear and of high standard. Luke Williams, Teignmouth Learning Trust
Delivery of the course was brilliant. Put at ease and has given me more confidence. As a non specialist this course has provided excellent ideas and practices which can be utilised effectively in the classroom. David Perham, Broadoak Community School
Lots of good ideas that I can now take away and implement in to my teaching. Stacey Searle, Falinge Park High School
Well organised, friendly staff, helpful course - exactly what I was looking for. Christian Hinz, Sirius Academy West
