Tim’s areas of expertise are diverse – modern language teaching, school governance, assessment, management, and school leadership. As a trainer and consultant, Tim brings a huge range of experience and real insight to help teachers develop professionally, support schools and above all offer simple, workable solutions. Tim’s subjects are modern languages and Latin and he is a graduate of Exeter University. He has worked as a classroom teacher, Head of Department, Head of Year, Head of Sixth Form, Director of Studies and Academic Deputy Headteacher before becoming a senior manager in a major UK exam board.
Tim is still a senior examiner and also works in a freelance capacity on major educational consultancy and delivery projects, both in the UK and internationally. In the last few years, Tim has worked on projects in Kazakhstan, Turkey, Hong Kong, France, Spain, Switzerland and the Caribbean.
Tim is a believer in the power of education to change lives; he says most teachers start out feeling this way, some lose it along the way, but is happy to say he never did. He has authored and edited many textbooks for teachers and works in the development of subject materials. Tim enjoys creative approaches to teaching and assessment in his subject area, as well as whole-school development work. He has wide experience of assessment and is a consultant for OfQual. Tim chaired the Governing Body of a school in North London and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors.
