Course Reference: 7847WW

This course is suitable for all KS3/4 teachers of English and Drama and is designed to help teachers fulfil the year by year learning objectives in the latest government guidance. Although the idea of troupes of actors performing or a school trip to the Globe is appealing and effective, it often comes down to the class teacher to do the hard graft and to inspire the students! This course will explore tried and trusted practical teaching strategies to make the plays relevant as well as covering exam requirements.

  • A range of dramatic techniques and conventions through which we can explore the plays
  • Strategies to explore different versions and interpretations of the plays
  • Engaging students to encourage more empathetic writing and to develop personal responses
  • How to discover the links between character, theme and language
  • Working with the cultural, historical and social factors to discover how and why the plays appeal to contemporary audiences
  • Making connections with other dramatic works
