There is increasing evidence that there are children who are gifted and talented within the majority of categories of special educational need. All too frequently these abilities are masked by the SEN and remain undeveloped or inappropriately developed. This course aims to provide practitioners with the knowledge, skills and confidence to rise to the challenge and provide opportunities for these pupils to overcome the barriers to their development. The course is suitable for SENCOs, G&T Co-ordinators, teachers and TAs working in special and mainstream schools.

  • Identify G&T pupils in a special educational setting
  • Understand the barriers posed by different types of special need
  • Assess the needs of G&T pupils with SEN
  • Devise individual programmes, based on need to overcome barriers posed by SEN
