With an average of three students per classroom facing mental health problems, the need for schools to have an effective and well-trained mental health lead is being increasingly recognised. This course enables staff who are new to, or preparing to take on the role to do so with a keen focus on the scope of the role and how it can be fulfilled effectively within the confines of limited budgets and external referrals.

  • Foster leadership that supports efforts to promote emotional health and wellbeing
  • Develop a curriculum that promotes resilience and supports social and emotional learning
  • Identify need and monitor the impact of interventions
  • Work in partnership with parents and carers
  • Establish positive relationships with external agencies including child and adolescent mental health services
  • Put in place targeted support and appropriate referrals
