Tackling School Phobia

A practical guide to working together to support phobic pupils and improve their attendance

Schools need to be proactive in actively promoting attendance but staff may feel that school phobias are caused by external factors out of their control. This course aims to identify significant support that schools can offer the child and its parents/carers to enable the school and the family to work together to manage the phobic behaviour.

  • Provide an environment that will support the phobic child
  • Identify ways that can increase attendance levels in school
  • Set up positive relationships between the school, the child and the family
  • Develop specific, outcome driven targets in the school development plan to demonstrate rising attendance levels
