Physical Education Curriculum Design for Primary-Aged Learners
This course provides some simple practical steps in designing an effective, inclusive, and progressive PE programme for key stages one and two and takes the pain out of curriculum design for PE.
Physical Education is a key element of a child’s all-round development and the learning in primary school provides the bedrock of all future success in physical activity. In addition, there is ample evidence to show that learners who regularly engage in vigorous activity and who develop excellent levels of coordination make greater progress in other academic learning. Yet, despite the vital role PE has to play, it is often a subject which takes a back seat, partly because of other seemingly more important educational focuses or sometimes lack of teaching knowledge and expertise.
Mark Salter who taught PE successfully for over 20 years as well as being involved in PE CPD since the late 1980s. Mark has an expertise in curriculum design and delivery, having been involved in the implementation of national curriculum PE across all phases since its inception in 1990 and its various iterations since then.
