Understanding Peer on Peer Abuse

All schools and colleges have clearly defined responsibilities in relation to peer on peer (child on child) abuse. However, peer on peer abuse can manifest in a number of ways. It can be a very complicated issue and difficult to unpick. This course is designed to equip you with a thorough understanding of what peer on peer abuse is and what it looks like, as well as your responsibilities in relation to peer on peer abuse. You will finish the course with a refreshed understanding of the issue and three top tips for minimising peer on peer abuse in your school.

Your Trainer – Elizabeth Rose

Elizabeth is an experienced safeguarding practitioner, adviser and trainer. She has over 15 years’ experience working in education and was formerly a Designated Safeguarding Lead in a secondary school. She is currently an independent safeguarding consultant and trainer, alongside working for a Local Authority as their Safeguarding in Education Adviser.

What You Can Expect

This course is an on demand video course that you can watch at a pace to suit you. The content is delivered in bite sized videos that will take less than an hour to watch in total. Implementing the ideas will take longer of course!

Whilst the videos are designed to be watched as a series, you might choose to come back and dip in and out of particular modules to refresh your knowledge.

At the end of the course there is a short activity to help you reflect on what you’ve learned and consider how to take it forwards. It’s absolutely up to you whether you decide to do this, but many people who do tell us that it helps them to apply what they’ve learned to their current context and think clearly about what practical next steps they can take to have a positive impact with their new knowledge, understanding and skills.
