Cherryl Drabble

Cherryl Drabble is an experienced teacher of children with special educational needs. She has worked with children with profound medical needs, children with severe learning difficulties, those with communication and interaction challenges and children with sensory and physical needs. Cherryl has worked in the special sector as a teacher, AHT and SENDCo for over 20 years. She developed extensive knowledge of working with children with behaviour challenges and those on the Autistic spectrum. Whilst working as an assistant head teacher Cherryl was awarded the status ‘Specialist Leader of Education’ with the Fylde Coast Teaching School. Part of her role was to deliver training on many apects of SEND to teachers and teaching assistants from the mainstream sector. Cherryl enjoyed this aspect of her role and specialised in working with TAs to develop their role as valued members of the SEND team. Cherryl has had two books published ‘Supporting Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (Bloomsbury) and ‘Introducing a School Dog’ (Jessica Kingsley). Both of these publications have been well received and have added to Cherryl’s knowledge of children with SEND.
