Supporting CYP in school with sight loss incl subject-specific advice

This course provides ideas of how and why to use parachute activities. It was written for pupils with PMLD but is suitable for anyone wanting movement, inclusion, communication ideas or specifically parachute ideas.

 Training for all levels of professionals, including those new to education and parents and carers.  The course will provide an overview of how we learn and why our vestibular sensory processing system is key to this, especially for learners with PMLD. The vestibular system will be placed within the context of our sensory processing system and the impact /difficulties faced when there are issues with our vestibular processing system outlined. The course provides practical strategies for all learners, specifically those with PMLD. The role of effective multi professional collaboration and the effective integration of advice (OT) and support are highlighted throughout.

Through this course, Sonya will share practical tips and ideas on making and using Sensory bottles in engaging and exciting ways to support learning and development. She will also share examples of her student’s engagement and positivity, and how you can work on specific areas of learning.

This is an introductory course for all staff and volunteers working directly with children in schools. This course will explain what child sexual exploitation is and some of the ways in which children may be exploited. We will think about why some children may be more vulnerable to child sexual exploitation and consider the signs and symptoms you may notice if a child is being sexually exploited. We will learn about the responsibilities of school and college staff in relation to child sexual exploitation and talk about what you should do if you think a child is suffering, or is at risk of suffering, this type of abuse.

This session will focus on why and how school leaders should model good wellbeing practices. The whole school culture and positive practices, tips and advice for school leaders to use in the workplace will be explored.
