18 more funded places

After working with 55 organisations on this programme, we’ve been awarded further funding to work with another 18. It’s for FE colleges and post-16 providers with 500 or more learners across English and maths resits combined, under the condition of funding.

Why resits need a different approach

Your resit learners aren’t just repeating what didn’t work the first time. They need strategies designed for further education, that recognise their previous experience and build confidence alongside competence.

Fully funded by the DfE

No cost to your college.

Whole-department training

Your whole English team, not piecemeal CPD.

Practical, FE-based strategies

Designed by FE practitioners, for FE practitioners, to use tomorrow.

Most CPD is adapted from school-based teaching. The English Resits Excellence Programme isn’t: it uses strategies that work with learners who need a fresh start. We’ve already supported over 10,000 FE English teachers, with 98% satisfaction.

A complete, evidence-based programme

The English Resits Excellence Programme is built on four pillars: the 4M framework.

Motivation

Identity-affirming tasks, restorative practice and meaningful contexts to re-engage learners.

Metacognition

Modelling, scaffolded thinking and memory strategies that build independent learners.

Mastery

Core literacy taught through sequence-based instruction and formative feedback.

Mobilising

Planning for change, tackling barriers and embedding collaboration across the department.
