The short version
We only use the cookies the site needs to work, unless you say yes to more. If you accept cookies when we ask, HubSpot, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity help us see how people use the site. We never use cookies for advertising. You can change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” at the foot of every page. The full policy below takes priority over this summary.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. They let the site remember things between pages and visits, such as whether you’re signed in or what you said when we asked about cookies. Some are set by the website you’re on, and some by services it uses.
The law says we can only use cookies that aren’t strictly necessary if you agree. So our analytics cookies stay off until you accept them.
2. Cookies we need
These make the site work and can’t be switched off. They don’t track you.
- ce_signed_in, set by our learning platform at learn.creativeeducation.co.uk when you sign in there. It says only that you’re signed in, so this website can show “My learning” instead of “Log in”. It holds no name or other details, is removed when you sign out, and lasts up to 30 days.
- ce_consent, set by us, remembers whether you accepted or rejected cookies. It’s shared with our learning platform, so you’re only asked once across both, and it lasts a year.
- WordPress cookies (names starting wordpress_ and wp-) are only set for our own staff when they sign in to edit the site. Visitors don’t get them.
3. Cookies you can turn off
These are only set if you accept cookies when we ask. They help us understand which pages are useful and how people find us, so we can improve the site.
HubSpot
HubSpot runs our forms, emails and contact records. Its analytics cookies tell us how people use the site and connect your visits to a form you fill in.
- __hstc: the main tracking cookie. It records when you first and last visited and how many visits you’ve made.
- hubspotutk: identifies your browser, so that if you fill in a form, your visits are linked to it.
- __hssc: counts pages viewed in a visit, and lasts 30 minutes.
- __hssrc: tells whether you’ve restarted your browser, and lasts until you close it.
- messagesUtk: remembers your conversation in the help chat.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics counts visits and shows us which pages are used. Nothing from Google loads, and nothing is sent to Google, until you accept cookies. We use it for analytics only, never for advertising, and we don’t let Google use it to show you ads.
- _ga: tells one visitor from another.
- _ga_ followed by our property code: keeps track of each visit.
Microsoft Clarity
Clarity shows us how people use the pages of this website: where they click, how far they scroll and where they get stuck, including recordings of visits. Anything you type is hidden before it leaves your browser, so we never see what you write in a form. We use it only on this website, never on our learning platform, and never for advertising.
- _clck: tells one visitor from another, and lasts a year.
- _clsk: joins the pages of one visit together, and lasts a day.
Microsoft may also set cookies on its own Clarity site, such as CLID and MUID, to recognise the same browser. These are explained in Microsoft’s list of Clarity cookies.
4. Cookies set by other services
- HubSpot forms: our enquiry, download, newsletter and job forms come from HubSpot. If you’ve accepted cookies, a form uses hubspotutk to link what you send to your earlier visits. Some forms load in a frame from HubSpot’s own site, and HubSpot may set cookies there that it needs to run the form securely.
- Help chat: if the help chat is switched on, it comes from HubSpot and loads only after you accept cookies.
- Our learning platform: learn.creativeeducation.co.uk sets its own cookies, for example to keep you signed in. They’re explained in its privacy notice.
We don’t embed videos or social media feeds on this website, and we don’t use advertising cookies.
5. Changing your choice
You can change your mind whenever you like:
- choose Cookie settings at the foot of any page to be asked about cookies again, and accept or reject. Your answer covers this website and our learning platform
- or use your browser’s settings to see, block or delete cookies. The ICO’s guide to cookies explains how.
If you block all cookies, some things may not work, for example this website won’t know you’re signed in to our learning platform. Rejecting cookies doesn’t stop anything working.
6. Contact
If you have a question about cookies, email [email protected] or call 020 8680 4077 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm). How we use the information cookies collect is in our privacy policy.
