About this course

Look at me when I'm talking to you. Wear your blazer. Sit still. For a pupil with PDA (pathological demand avoidance), each one adds to a pile of demands that's already too high. When it topples you get refusal, a meltdown or a week off school that seems to come out of nowhere.

You'll learn to find the demands you didn't know you were making, from a clock on the wall to a burst of praise, and decide which are worth keeping. A priority rating chart separates the rules that keep people safe from the ones that are just habit, and the PDA Society's PANDA approach gives you ways to negotiate rather than insist. There's also masking, and why a pupil who copes all day can fall apart at home.

Your guide is autistic and spent years teaching, so a lot of this comes from the inside.
