This course is designed to raise awareness and offer simple suggestion and ideas for anyone who supports learners with PMLD to enable them to become active participants within their own personal care routines. This is possible through using learning opportunities that arise from care routines and activities. I will highlight opportunities for developing communication, physical development, initiation and independence, explore how participation may take place and what elements can be used to enhance learners independence. Look at ways in which you can build on previous learning and use the repetitive nature of these routine to support learning in a positive and purposeful way. This course will also discuss considerations of rights, law and keeping children safe in education.
