Teachers need to know and understand how to assess pupils in their subjects, including the statutory assessment requirements. They need to make use of formative and summative assessment to secure pupils’ progress, and use relevant data to monitor progress, set targets, and plan subsequent lessons. Teachers also need to give pupils regular feedback, both orally and through accurate marking, and encourage pupils to respond to the feedback. In this course, Matt Bromley explores the central tenets of effective assessment, marking and feedback.
